by Carrie Boyko, CEB
© Carrie Boyko
Did You Win this One?
Ooops!
I love Fridays! Not only is it the end of the week, but I get to give away my doggie prizes to happy readers. This week I get a twofer, as I have handbags and gator toys as prizes. Shall we get right down to business? Okay...

My 3-part series on Gator Safety for Dogs and Owners has been a big hit. There is one left to run tomorrow in the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop. You guys really put up a fight to win these cute toys from Petmate, and do they ever have great squeakers. You will love these squeakers that are not so much of a choke hazard and are easily placed on a new water bottle when the included one collapses from energetic Fido play. Enjoy!

In case you missed the Gator Safety articles, here are the links:

Watch for the last post tomorrow:
Gators and their Dangers to Dogs: Update on Seasonal Issues

Now for the winners of the Petmate booda Squeaky Gator Toys: Urchiken, G. Walshver, K. Pugh, Tiramisu392, and Kelly T. Congratulations to these winners who put up such a great fight.  Now your pup will get to play and fight with this super fun squeaky gator toys. Tanner loves his. Can you tell?

Note: I have created a new email for handling all the giveaway mail. My email box was getting too crowded to keep track of everything, so I'm going to now ask that you email your address to AllThingsDogBlog@gmail.com. You'll be getting a notification today that you won a gator toy. If you do not receive an email, be sure to check your spam. If it doesn't turn up there, I could have sent your email to a wrong email (me? a typo? Never!). Be sure to write me and let me know you did not hear from me. Assuming you get your email as you should, simply reply to this with your address. Isn't that easy?

If you didn't win, you can purchase these adorable squeaky gator toys at Pet Mountain. Other Petmate products may be found online at Petco and Pet Sense Outlet.

Popular Dog-Themed Handbags
My most commonly asked question this week was definitely "Where did I get these cute bags?" Sorry, ladies, you won't find them at your local Target. I bought them while on vacation overseas. They were being hand sewn in a small outdoor market by a few ladies who were selling them in a "store" the size of my bathroom! I've saved a few for future giveaways, so stay tuned. Halloween will be especially fun.

Now, on to the winners' names. Congratulations to Allie's Junk, Find Me a Happy Pet, E. Glavin, and Michelle S. Your handbags will be shipped to you on either Monday or Friday, depending on when you get your address to me. Watch your email for an announcement from AllThingsDogBlog@gmail.com letting you know which handbag you won. Be sure to reply with your address.

I hope everyone is happy. Have you checked out this week's giveaways? Fido's Freebie Friday is offering all sorts of goodies for you to win. Check out the $50 Petsmart giftcard, Flush Puppies doodie bags, Greenies Wag and Walk, M and J Dog Essentials, ProActive Balance, FIDO Friendly's Nantucket Trip, Premier Pet products Dog Prize Pack, Klondike Dog Bed, Free pet cleaning products, Kids Dog and Cat Care Totes, Michochip cat door, Doggie Cookie Cutters, and a Jolly Pets baseball cap and Tshirt. Fun Prizes for Feminine Fidos

We're going to have some fun today. Giving out prizes is always a great time, but girl goodies is something I don't get much of these days. This just adds a little bounce to my step, even with the boring job of packing up the mailings!

© Carrie Boyko
Baseball Themed Bow
Shall we get started? Okay, let's start with the Baseball Bow, as the first drawing. This adorable, sports-themed bow from Puppy Kisses, is perfect for the baseball-loving owner, and will be oh, so cute on the the Bow Wow in the family.

Our winner of this great tomboy bow is Princess Sarah. Now there's just one thing left to say about this:  "Lets go out to the ball game!"

Next up are the 3 Hot Pink Fabuleashes. It will certainly be easy to spot these winners on the street, with this glitsy glamour showing off their adorable faces. The three lucky pups to get a beautiful Fabuleash are: Ruby, Beth Lee from Facebook, and Kiko.

© Carrie Boyko
Burberry-Look Set
Winner #5 gets the Burberry-look collection, sure to align her with the designer crowd. I wish I could offer up Paris Hilton's phone number, but sorry--it's unlisted! This lucky winner gets the Burberry-look bow from Puppy Kisses, along with the beautiful, coordinating tan Fabuleash; it's simply fabulous!  Be sure to enjoy this ensemble with a day on Park Avenue. Shopping is the perfect way to show off your fashion savvy. Congratulations to Maizey for winning this pairing.

Puppy Kisses Polka Dot Bow
Pairs with Fabuleash in Hot Pink
Wrapping up this fun, fashion bonanza is our Hot Pink Polka Dot Ensemble, again a combination of a Puppy Kisses bow and a Fabuleash in beautiful hot pink matching colors. Now this, ladies, is the feminine couture embodied--perfect for your Spring and Summer sun-dresses. I'm sure you're all clamoring for this one, but only one lucky Fido wins the goods: Daisy

Winners all happy? I'm sure. This was a ton of fun, as I was able to enjoy it vicariously through you. With only male dogs in the house these days, I don't get much fru-fru! Bandanas is the extent of our fashion statement.

Winners need to get in touch at LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com to provide addresses. I'll notify you if I have contact information. Packages will go out within 1 week of receipt of address. Enjoy, and feel free to leave a comment about your beautiful feminine fidos.

Before I head out, I'd like to leave you with a few extra blogs to explore. Blog hopping is a ton of fun, so feel free to enjoy the bounce. This Sunday's hop is called Swinging By Sunday, and is sponsored by Chubby Cheeks Thinks! Be sure to stop in and thank them for hosting.

Full disclosure: The Fabuleash and Puppy Kisses products described in this post have been donated to All Things Dog Blog for an independent review. I have not been paid to provide my opinion of these products, and the opinion provided is my own. Thank you to Lizzi and Cocoa of Cocoa's Corner from 20 Something Saver, for their help as models.

A Greenie Giveaway
Just in Time for Earth Day

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
© Carrie Boyko
Teenie Greenies
for the Green Litte Dog at Your House
Oh, dear....Pet Dental Health Month was was way back in February. Now it's Earth Day and you're trying to Go Green? Time for a Greenies intervention...

Many of my readers tell me that brushing their dogs' teeth is simply not an option. I can write about it, encourage it and even show off pearly whites to set the example, but I can't make it happen.

That's where Greenies come in, the dental chew that helps to clean your pets' teeth. Most pet owners know that their dogs' oral health is connected to their furry friends' overall, long term health. Greenies can help by doing what the lack of a toothbrush is failing to accomplish: remove or reduce plaque on the teeth. Further, this digestible formula doesn't have the same danger of splintering that many rawhide chews, bones and strips do.

© courtesy of Greenies
A recent poll show done by Trone, Inc. research showed that 30% of pet owners have recently increased their purchases of dental cleaning treats, in light of this information about long term health. The truth is cookie-type treats do not have the same effectiveness as Greenies, which are accepted by the Veterinary Oral Health Council to help control tartar and plaque.

So, with periodontal disease proven to be the most common pet health problem, what should you do to prevent it in your pet?
  • Brush
  • Rinse with plaque-reducing rinses
  • Use water additives that reduce plaque retention
  • Choose kibble vs. canned or soft food, for better oral health
  • Serve Greenies chew treat to reduce plaque and tartar. Other brands are available; however, Greenies seems to have taken the forefront in the public eye. They simply have the greatest visibility and the most widely-known name.
I'll add one more tip here: It's a little idea I heard from a groomer friend who owns 3 toy-sized dogs. Those of you who have these diminutive little pups may know how difficult it is to get a toothbrush into their tiny mouths. My friend adds a bit of doggie toothpaste (NEVER use human toothpaste on your dog; it is toxic to them!) to her pups' brushes, and gives it to them for a brief bit of chewing fun. Pretty clever, huh? Just be sure to supervise and remove the brush when your pup gets too rough with it.

I've tried this tactic with Tanner and Oliver. It works fairly well with Oliver, although he doesn't stay with it as long as I would like. Tanner is another story. He has a tendency to get a bit excessive with the toothbrush chewing, and before I know it, he has the bristles all over the floor! We'll stick with brushing his teeth; he's a pretty good boy. Check out this silly smile:
© A. Boyko
Is This Smile Good Enough?
So, let's give away a few Greenies to get you started. Sound good? Tanner and Oliver don't know it yet, but the Easter Bunny will be bringing them Greenies, along with their homemade cookies. Did you read the recipe on Tuesday? Our super duper Chicken and Carrot Biscuits were a big hit on baking day, but by now I think they've forgotten. They'll be getting some cute rabbit-shaped cookies on Sunday.

Following are YOUR prize possibilities. Be sure to read the rules!
  • One large Fido (50-100 lbs.) will win a treat pak of dental chews containing 8 Greenies.
  • One medium-sized Pup (25-50 lbs.) will win a treat pak of dental chews with 12 Greenies inside.
  • One of our smaller pooches (15-25 lbs.) will win a treat pak with a whopping 20 Greenies
  • 1 lucky pint-sized pup (5-15 lbs.) will get a handful of Teenie Greenies!
To enter this drawing for these 4 prizes, be sure to tell us your dog's weight(s) and name(s). You can enter with comments here on the blog, at our Facebook site (be sure to hit the "Like" button so you'll be kept up to date on all our doings), and with an @Tweet. Feel free to enter daily.

Extra credit entries may be achieved with a smiling photo of your pup, including his name, sent to my email @ LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com. Please note: Your photos may be used for future cover models or displayed on our Facebook page, but will be copyright acknowledged to you, their owner, using your initials. Please do not submit photos you do not own the rights to.

Need to know where you can buy Greenies online? Their website has a U.S. store locater, and you can also pick up any size or quantity package you'd like through Amazon. Just click this link and make your choice at the site. It will be on it's way to you quick as a bunny!

Prizes are available only to North American addresses, age 18+, void where prohibited.  Entries close at 5:00 PM on Thursday, April 28. Prizes will be announced on April 29 here on the blog. Good luck to you all.

Dog Prize Giveaway
and Weekly Preview

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
© Cesar Cuisine
Prize Flavors Will Vary
Are you ready for the 4 free 12-packs of Cesar Cuisine? Good. Read on and we'll get to the names shortly. First I have some news to share.

As I continue to venture down this road of weekly giveaways, I want to make an effort to improve your experience. We are all about customer service, and that's why we offer a staff of trainers to answer your question, a vet to offer assistance, and problem solving posts to help you keep Fido out of mischief.

Today I'm going to implement a new strategy to assist in prize drawings that are appropriate for the winners. I want you and your Fido to get a prize that you'll be excited about, and he will enjoy immensely. So starting today, I'll be asking you for your dog's breed or weight when you win a drawing if I can't figure it out by your post or a link. Feel free to share it in your comment to expedite your winnings! As always, you can enter with a comment here, on my Facebook site, or through Twitter. Even email comments are acceptable if you can't comment at the other sites: LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com

Also starting today, I'm going to be offering a weekly preview of some of the posts you can look forward to through the weekend and into next week. So, what's coming up?
  • The official announcement of our Easter Rabbit Adoptathon Blog Hop will offer tips on decision-making, making life with a rabbit more workable, and how to find a rabbit to adopt. I hope you didn't miss yesterday's guest post by our family's rabbit, Robby. He had great comments that will help immensely if you're considering this big step.
  • Adoptable Pets: A Tour of States hits a new state each week. Any idea which state we'll be visiting this week?
  • Dr. Pat will address the natural ways to clean the skin folds on dog breeds such as Sharpei and Bulldogs.
  • We'll be sharing a guest post from a representative of the Veterans Administration who will tell us more about the bill before Congress that we hope will soon allow service dogs on VA property. Come learn more about the challenges of our retired servicemen and women who use service dogs to help them live independent lives.
  • One of our trainer staff, Terry Lynn Cuyler, will share a few tips on helping your children learn how to properly and safely greet a new dog.
  • Finally, next week will wrap up with Blog the Change Day, when I will talk about drown-proofing your pups. Learn the whole story of my Pitbull water rescue and what you can do to prevent the unthinkable from happening to your dog.
I suppose it's time to announce the winners of our four 12-packs of Cesar Cuisine: Shauna, Patty Milliron, Mary, and Lori. Ladies, your pups will each receive a 12-pack of gourmet dinners along with a doggie bandana and a couple of other surprises. We hope you'll enjoy your goodies. Don't forget to send your address to LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com

Finally, be sure to click over to our Facebook page to "Like" us and follow us on Twitter. This will help us keep you better informed about our great upcoming events.

And as always, don't forget to visit 5 Minutes for Fido, where Tanner and Oliver spout off their opinions and generally offer up silliness.

Fido's Freebie Friday

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
© Carrie Boyko
Our Sock Toy is Great
 for Big and Small Dogs

Last week I had a little walk down memory lane about my Xena and offered up a few All Things Dog Blog sock toys in her memory. On top of that, a reader with a big dog won a little dog giftpak, so I'm re-gifting that to someone new, and the first reader will get a "big dog pack" instead. That definitely makes more sense for her big dog, don't you think?!!
© Carrie Boyko
The Little Dog Pak
Includes all You See Here

To top this all off, the folks at Cesar Cuisine that sent me the little dog giftpaks sweetened the pot by shipping me a bunch of their gourmet dinners to give away.  I need to unload this quick before Oliver turns into a pumpkin! And Tanner, well, he could easily lap it all up in one sitting!

So, here's the deal. Today I'll give away the giftpak and the sock toys. Next week there will be four 12-packs of Cesar Cuisine meals up for grabs on Friday, April 8. That's a bunch of chow for some happy little pups. Keep in mind, this brand of food is designed especially for toy-sized dogs. Don't comment on this post unless you have a small dog to offer it to. The nutritional balance is designed especially for our tiniest canine companions.

Need to know how to enter? It's simple: Leave a comment about your toy-sized dog here on the blog (the comment link is at the bottom of the post), comment on this small dog prize at our Facebook page, or drop me a Tweet about your pup. Entries close on Thursday evening, April 7, so don't wait. Enter as often as you like.

Today's winners of the All Things Dog Blog Sock toys are:

Laura Dogsmom
Beth Lee
Vicki Ross Bechet

And finally, the Cesar Cuisine giftpak goes to Patti Smith. All four of these winners need to get in touch with their addresses for shipment: LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com.

Speaking of addresses, I have no contact info for ROXY, last week's winner of one of the giant Merrick's Miss Porky Chews last week. She needs to get in touch at LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com. Roxy, you have 30 days from the date of announcement. Good luck everyone.

And as always, don't forget to visit 5 Minutes for Fido, where Tanner and Oliver spout off their opinions and generally offer up silliness.

Pup Prizes Galore...and More Coming!

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
(c) Carrie Boyko
Oliver Guards Well for a Little Guy

I'm going to have some real fun today with prize giving, and next week there will be 3 giveaways as a result, so listen up. I just learned that last week's winner of the Cesar Cuisine Little Dog Giftpack owns a BIG dog. Oops. I've offered that winner an alternate gift and will be giving you guys a chance to hop in and try again for the Cesar Cuisine giftpak. Your comments to enter this giveaway need to be "little dog" oriented, for example:

"I love my Jack Russell because he is so smart."
"My Yorkie is a cute cuddler."
"My little Papillon girl is in love with Oliver." ;)
"I want that shirt that says Go Small or Go Home"

Okay, you get the idea on that. Now go for it! Need a reminder of what's in the pak? Here ya go:
Tshirt, Treats, Serving Dish,
and 4 Cans of Gourmet Chow

Today's giveaway, the Merrick's Miss Porky Chews, are being guarded by Tanner and Oliver with great diligence. I caught Tanner drooling and had to remind him they are PRIZES, a.k.a. yummies for another's tummy. :(  It's okay, Tanner. You'll get an Easter Bunny cookie for your trouble. Good boy!

Watch for the recipe for the Easter Bunny cookies coming up in April. You can make them yourself, and your pup will think you're the bunny of his dreams! Better add carrots to the grocery list now.

(c) Carrie Boyko
Tanner Can't Face the Camera
Allergies Put Him in the Donut Hole
The Merrick's Miss Porky Chews go to Roxy and Maura. Your prizes will be shipped late next week if I have your addresses in time. Send them to LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com

Be sure to scroll down to see today's other post, Dogs that Amaze Us: Skidboot. I dare you to not love this dog. Finally, be sure to join us for the Saturday Pet Blogger's Hop when we talk about preventing arthritis and hip displaysia. More prizes too. See you tomorrow.
