Event Barkers Fuels the Love

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
What a terrific charity event we all enjoyed last evening. Simply by joining in the fun and submitting photos of our pets in their active lifestyle, Zuke's has donated a nice nest egg to the Dog and Cat Cancer Fund (DCCFund).

Our winners joined in with their encouragement and their pet pics, hoping to help Zuke's meet their goal, while enjoying an evening of fun photos and prize packages of Zuke's treats. Event Barkers handed off $750 in Zuke's treats on behalf of Zuke's, our sponsor for #FueltheLove.

Congratulations to our winners:  Pre-party winners are @frugaliscious, @drellis500, and
Daraya. Party winners include @Janie189@mom321, @MissStellyBean, @jjmentos, @ESeattleMama
@OliveTulips, and the grand prize winner was @SawyertheLab, scoring a $120 in Zuke's treats! Special thanks to Zuke's for all their efforts in founding and building the DCCFund to help pet parents and their furry friends. Finally, thank YOU for helping us to Fuel the Cure!

You can still share your pet’s photo using the #FueltheLove hashtag on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, if you have yet to join this fun effort to raise important funds. Be sure to tag @ZukesPets to generate the $5 donation. And don’t miss the Facebook  page and #FueltheCure Flickr page to see other photos!

Happy tails,

Help Us Save Dogs and Cats with Cancer!

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

One of our longtime Event Barkers clients has been Zuke's, makers of USA-made treats that focus on fueling your pet's active lifestyle. This goal has been at the core of the Zuke's principles since their inception. The team here at Event Barkers loves to encourage our dogs to maintain a busy mind and body. Much of my posting involves these and related topics, so we're happy to join this charitable effort.

Our #FueltheLove Twitter Party, opening at 8 PM ET this evening, will feature information on the Dog and Cat Cancer Fund and how it helps pet parents with the cost of cancer treatment. Just by participating, you'll be helping to fund this charity, as Zuke's will be donating $5 per photo per pet, when you submit a picture of your dog in his favorite activity tagging it @ZukesPets #FueltheLove.

Feel free to submit multiple photo posts of different pets during the party and join us with your extra pet pics just to share and have fun showing off your furry friends. We'll all be there doing the same to help the DCCFund make its fund raising goal of $10,000 this year. Zuke's hopes to up their game when it comes to helping pet parents, and you can have fun while aiding them in meeting their goal. What's more, you can win great packages of Zuke's treats just for joining in the party, or for entering the pre-party giveaways you'll find at the announcement post. There's $750 in treats up for grabs, so why not join us!!!

Learn more about the DCCFund here:

We look forward to seeing you this evening at #FueltheLove. We'll be online around 7:30 for checkins. Say hello to @EventBarkers and don't forget to pay respects to our sponsor, @ZukesPets. Have a wonderful day!

#PetCharityDonations Names First Winner

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

Today is a big day for All Things Dog Blog, the debut of #PetCharityDonations and our first winner. When I first began this site, I never envisioned being able to help charities. My dream was to help pet parents find better solutions to their many challenges. We've tried to accomplish this in many ways--general lifestyle tips for pet households, greener living information, veterinary advice, dog training help, product reviews, giveaways, pet solutions articles, and most recently, Doga instruction to help pet parents bond with Fido while working out at home.

After founding Super Dog Sunday™, this event became our annual charity effort, helping to highlight Petfinder pets while garnering donations from sponsors to support Petfinder Foundation. Now, we're finding other opportunities. By cleaning out our excess samples and allowing our philanthropically-motivated readers to strut their stuff, we're able to donate in their names when they win.

I worried that no one would enter. What was I thinking?!!! You came through for our shelters, foster families and rescues. You never let me down! I want to thank each and every one of you who joined in this effort. I wish I could put all your names on the large dog crate we'll be delivering to A New Beginning Pet Rescue. You all deserve it!

Congratulations to our winner, D. Ellis. A longtime reader, Ms. Ellis has participated in many of our events, giveaways, and photo contests. Thank you again for joining us for this charity event.

Watch for the photo of our delivery on our Facebook page. I'll post it with pride, knowing that my readers are the best. You care about pets everywhere. Pat yourselves on the back. Another rescued pet will have his very own crate this coming weekend.

#FueltheLove Helps Pets Beat Cancer

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

 photo fuelthelove-badge300_zps062d84da.jpg

All Things Dog Blog and our Event Barkers partners, DogTipper.com and ToDogWithLove.com are sooo excited to share this very exciting Twitter Party announcement. We're thrilled to play a small part in this charity effort that will raise needed funds for the the Dog and Cat Cancer Fund (DCCF). The Dog and Cat Cancer Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to understanding, treating and preventing canine and feline cancer.  Zuke's is out to help pet parents challenged by the costs of cancer treatment, by donating $5 for every tagged photo shared with the hashtag #FueltheLove. That donation sounds like a whole lotta love, yes?!!!

As you share your photos of your dog in action and loving life, Zuke's will Fuel the Cure with their donations. Doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy?!!! So join us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter by sharing your photos and videos with the #FueltheLove hashtag and @ZukesPets handle--one photo or video per pup, please. Don't forget to follow @ZukesPets on Instagram so you can watch the fun-filled entries. Your participation on social media and in the Twitter Party will help families get financial support to see their pets through treatment.

Pssst...did you know that there are approximately 6 million dogs diagnosed with cancer each year? Many are unable to opt for treatment due to the high cost. That's where you can help with your Tweets and social media sharing of your dog's action photo.

Are you wondering how much money we're talking about? Last year this fund-raiser chalked up $2,500, but this year Zuke's is aiming much higher--$10,000!  So hunt up your best pet pic of each of your furry friends and let 'em rip with #FueltheLove @ZukesPets. We can't wait to see your best friends.

To learn more about how Zuke's will help the DCCF, join us for the #FueltheLove Twitter Party Sunday, June 22, when we'll be handing out loads of prizes--Zuke's dog treats, of course! Even if you can't make the party, you can still join in our pre-event giveaways. Three winners will score a pile of treats valued at about $70, enough to keep your pup's sweet tooth tuned up for quite a while. The remainder of the total $750 in prizes will be awarded during the Twitter Party, so mark your calendar for June 22 and plan to bring your dog pics for some photo sharing fun.

Want to learn more or see more photos? Check out the Facebook page for this event and visit the #FueltheCure Flickr page where all the photos are shared. Watch for Tanner and Oliver to appear there lending support in memory of our much-loved Xena who cheerfully survived liver cancer for 3 years. #inspiring

To enter to win our pre-event giveaways, simply use the Giveaway Tools form at the bottom of this post. If you don't see it down there, it's probably off working to #FueltheLove. You can bring it back on duty by simply clicking the post title to alert it. Enjoy the variety of entries, using only those you choose. Keep it fun and remember that this is all to help the DCCF raise money to help families like yours in need of treatment dollars. Thanks for participating.

One last little tidbit: To help you remember the event, and also to give you a place to record your questions, we've created a printable flyer to place beside your computer or on your refrigerator. Now you can be ready and oh so organized on the night of the event!

Thanks for helping us Fuel the Cure,

Petfinder Foundation to Benefit
from Super Dog Sunday™ Fundraiser

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

Join us for a
Football-Themed Photo Contest

Oh My Dog! We are so excited to have the 2012 Super Dog Sunday™ photo contest and blog hop finally within reach. Especially now that we're turning it into something more than just a photo show. This year's event will be a Charity fundraiser for Petfinder Foundation with sponsors kicking in a nice donation, while participants show off their dogs in football-themed photos. Dogtipper has jumped on board to help out and we'll be bringing you loads of fun and great ways to win prizes.

Who is the Petfinder Foundation? The Petfinder Foundation helps to assure that no pet is euthanized for lack of a home. They provide:
  • Emergency Management and Disaster Recovery (you can donate online at this link)
  • Care for Shelter Pets through a variety of programs. If you would like to help, click this link to donate the program of your choice.
  • Opportunities to Sponsor a Pet that touches your heart with a donation in any amount. This helps with healthcare, animal transport, shelter support and more.
All donations to Petfinder Foundation are tax deductible. You can donate by mail to: Petfinder Foundation
4729 E. Sunrise Drive #119
Tucson, AZ 85718

Petfinder's donation process allows you to set up a regular donation with a simple click of the mouse. You can arrange for automatic donations that are monthly, bi-monthly, bi-annual and more. Check your options at the top right "Your Selections" at this link.

If you've never visited Petfinder.com, the Foundation's sister site, you're in for quite a surprise. Adoption was never so easy! You can choose location, breed, type of animal, size, color, sex, age, special needs, and much more. Their system of search even allows you to give input on other pets and children in your home, how far you are willing to travel to visit an adoptable pet, and how to find local rescues.

Petfinder.com is one amazing search system for locating your new best friend. Each adoptable pet is added with his own information page including photos, health, age, history, location, and social information. This is the way adoption was intended to happen and we are thrilled to be able to provide this fundraiser for them.

Pet Charity Spotlight: Best Friends Society

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
You may have noticed a new ad in my sidebar. As a part of the Blogpaws initiatives to help homeless pets, a number of us are participating in an effort to help bring about a time when there are no more homeless pets. Best Friends Animal Society is more than just a friend to animals; they are making a real difference.

With Valentine's Day approaching, love is in the air. This is the time of year when we all tend to think of those we care most about. Hopefully homeless animals are on your list. Best Friends Animal Society has many ways that you can help. Visit their site and you can read about their programs. You might even decide to sponsor an animal or treat your human sweetheart to something from their store. In this way, you will be supporting homeless animals at the same time you take care of your Valentine's shopping. Handy, right?

Speaking of Valentine's Day, I announced a bracelet giveaway last week and lots of you entered the drawing. I'm sure the folks at Freaky Dog People will be glad to know you love their bracelets.

It's time to announce the winner of that drawing. I stirred and stirred the box of names from all you readers that have entered the rolling drawings. The lucky ladies that win today are Vicki R.B. and Gail (you commented here on the blog). I'll get a message to Vicki, but Gail will need to contact me with a full name and address through my email at LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com, in order to retrieve her prize. First come first serve on the design choice: heart or paw print. Congratulations!
