Help Shelter Pets with Your Crafts

Please Craft for a Shelter Dog

Sometimes I'm just blown away by the creative ideas that I see in the pet blogging world. Today is one of those days. A fellow pet blogger, Erika Lundquist of SewDoggyStyle.com, is always coming up with clever ways to use her craftiness. Today she's initiating a new way for all of us to help shelters by realizing that we can promote adoption with our crafts.

Today is National Craft for Your
Local Shelters Day
Rescue pets often need a little help in appealing to visitors. Try a bandana with "Adopt Me" on it, or any lovable or emotion-evoking caption, to attract more attention from would-be forever families. You can even make needed things for shelter pets like beds, toys or leashes. It's not about what you do, but more about THAT you do it. Pat yourself on the back if you're able to help.

Today, our friend Erika has launched National Craft for your Local Shelters Day. She has big plans and tons of ideas and energy. Won't you help? Visit her site to learn more about what you can do to help shelter pets. Tanner and Oliver thank you; I do too!

Adoptable Pets: A Tour of States Returns!
Resuming with Oklahoma

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

It's good to be back in the saddle, touring the states to check out adoptable Petfinder Pets. I had a blast the last couple of months promoting Petfinder adoption through our Super Dog Sunday™ events. If you missed the photo contest, you may want to check it out here.
Chloe

Now let's move on to Oklahoma where we find , Chloe, an adoptable dog. Chloe is a Border Collie, Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. If you're familiar with breeds you'll know these are two highly active breeds, so Chloe is looking for a family that will enjoy getting her out for long walk, swim, or hike every day.

Tommy
Chloe is friendly, playful and has a love of life like no other. She may need a bit of obedience training, but then what dog doesn't. She's smart and will likely learn quickly. You can find Chloe in Prague, Okalahoma at the link above.

If you're looking for a smaller pup, perhaps Tommy will suit your fancy. He's a Chihuahua mix also available in Prague.

Spyce
Spyce and his brother and soulmate, Pepper, cannot go with their owner to a new home. They are in need of a new home quickly. Spyce, a beautiful domestic long hair, and Pepper are available to adopt in Shawnee, Okalahoma. Their foster family's phone number is on their profile page, so you can ask questions and get an idea if you are the right family for Spyce and Pepper. Please give them a chance!

Ophelia
Now let's meet Ophelia, a bunny rabbit mix in Blanchard, Okalahoma. Unlike most rabbits, Ophelia likes to be in the middle of activity and enjoys showing off. She is quite an unusual rabbit. In addition, her caretakers say she is highly athletic with amazing jumping ability that is very entertaining. She is good with her human family members and would make a nice pet for many households.

Xia
Say hello to Xia, one of three Gooberellas that have joined us today. You'll find Xia's packmates here also, or possibly at Dogtipper, where half of the entries are being posted. Of course the easiest place to view all the photos is the Blog Hop and Photo Contest venue: Super Dog Sunday!

Shadow, Adoptable in Cheyenne, WY

Shadow caught my eye when I remembered that this is one of the names we considered for Xena. In hindsight, it would be a more appropriate name for Oliver, but Xena's black color also made her a candidate. You can learn more about Shadow at this link.

Peachy
Hooray, another kitty has shown her face--checking out a colorful football. Welcome Peachy and give her a vote or two. After all, she is a minority!

Rajsi, Adoptable in Cheyenne, WY

I'm not quite sure how to pronounce Rajsi, but hoping someone will pop in and help us out with this adorable pup's name. Rajsi is ready to find a forever home in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He's a Tibetan Spaniel/Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Mix, and very attractive. You can learn more about him here.

Macy
Macy is all ready for Game Day with his football, a TV and, oh dear. "Macy, dogs are not supposed to drink beer. Sorry, boy!"

Now let's talk about another Petfinder adoptable pet, Maverick. He's a young, male Terrier mix that is available for a forever home in South Bend, Indiana. Please check him out. He really needs to move into a permanent family after being abused as a youngster. He has made a miraculous recovery from serious injury and is ready to start a new chapter. Can you help Maverick? Please read his story at the link.

PS: Don't forget you can do your part to help all these rescue animals by donating any thing your budget will allow to Petfinder Foundation at this link. We all thank you!

Petfinder Foundation to Benefit
from Super Dog Sunday™ Fundraiser

Join us for a
Football-Themed Photo Contest

Oh My Dog! We are so excited to have the 2012 Super Dog Sunday™ photo contest and blog hop finally within reach. Especially now that we're turning it into something more than just a photo show. This year's event will be a Charity fundraiser for Petfinder Foundation with sponsors kicking in a nice donation, while participants show off their dogs in football-themed photos. Dogtipper has jumped on board to help out and we'll be bringing you loads of fun and great ways to win prizes.

Who is the Petfinder Foundation? The Petfinder Foundation helps to assure that no pet is euthanized for lack of a home. They provide:
  • Emergency Management and Disaster Recovery (you can donate online at this link)
  • Care for Shelter Pets through a variety of programs. If you would like to help, click this link to donate the program of your choice.
  • Opportunities to Sponsor a Pet that touches your heart with a donation in any amount. This helps with healthcare, animal transport, shelter support and more.
All donations to Petfinder Foundation are tax deductible. You can donate by mail to: Petfinder Foundation
4729 E. Sunrise Drive #119
Tucson, AZ 85718

Petfinder's donation process allows you to set up a regular donation with a simple click of the mouse. You can arrange for automatic donations that are monthly, bi-monthly, bi-annual and more. Check your options at the top right "Your Selections" at this link.

If you've never visited Petfinder.com, the Foundation's sister site, you're in for quite a surprise. Adoption was never so easy! You can choose location, breed, type of animal, size, color, sex, age, special needs, and much more. Their system of search even allows you to give input on other pets and children in your home, how far you are willing to travel to visit an adoptable pet, and how to find local rescues.

Petfinder.com is one amazing search system for locating your new best friend. Each adoptable pet is added with his own information page including photos, health, age, history, location, and social information. This is the way adoption was intended to happen and we are thrilled to be able to provide this fundraiser for them.
