#EBTweets Wraps Up a Fun Reunion of Twitter Party Alumni

Wowzer! Did we have fun tonight at #EBTweets! It was enjoyable seeing how many folks showed up that were present at our earlier Twitter Parties--#SafeHowlOween, #BarkFriday, #SuperDogPics, and #RedCarpetCat. We met former winners and created a bunch of new ones too--13 happy kitty and dog winners got fab prizes valued at over $1000  during our 90-minute party.


I especially loved the part where party guests shared their favorite parts of our previous events. Kudos to all of you who were willing to speak up and tell us what you enjoyed. Guest experts, artists, prizes and trivia all topped your lists. Your input will help Paris and I prepare for future events even more thoroughly.


This evening's winners took home Castor and Pollux pet food, Zukes treats, Barkonomics by Dogtipper, bandanas from AllThingsDogBlog.com, FIDO Friendly subscriptions, Doggyloot dollars, Toki Poki trading cards and other goodies, Petfinder T-Shirts, a PetHub tag and membership, Dog Pack Snacks, dog training videos, assorted cat and dog toys, pet grooming supplies by John Paul Pet, natural pet pest control products from VetsBest, pet-themed tote bags and handbags from Event Barkers, and more. I'm exhausted just trying to make sure I don't leave anyone out!


What was my favorite part of the party? Announcing all the upcoming parties! Everyone has a lot to look forward to now: #Gamma2Fresh in June, #BarktoSchool in August, #SpookyPets before Halloween, #BarkFriday and #HolidayPets before December kicks in, and #SuperDogPics will be back to prime the pump for #SuperDogSunday again. Are you ready? Hope so because there will be more!


Let's announce the winners from the #EBTweets party, and wrap this up. It has been a very long day:

1. @Cstironkat won a prize to be donated to our local rescue (A New Beginning) in her name. Thanks!

9. @Pet360 will need to choose between a kitty or a dog prize, and will get a wonderful selection of great prizes.
10. @5KittyMom will be enjoying a bag of terrific kitty toys and other goodies. Purr!
11. @WoofWoofMama won the Rescue Grand Prize and donated it to another Florida rescue: Have a Heart in Boca Raton, FL. Her prize will be shipped direct to them with a note from her.
12. @Kurtsmomma won the kitty Grand Prize to include The Tiniest Tiger bag, a diffuser for anxiety reduction from Petco, and Castor and Pollux food. Her neighbor's dog, Jaeger will be enjoying the bandana in style. Our previous sponsors have also included special goodies like a Toki Poki grab bag, Doggyloot dollars, a FIDO Friendly subscription and more goodies.
13. @Myfolly won the dog Grand Prize. In addition to the Castor and Pollux food, Zukes treats, training videos, Myfolly will get Dog Pack Snacks, FIDO Friendly, Doggyloot dollars, a Toki Poki grab bag and PetHub tag with subscription.

Weekly Wag #16: Ball Games for Big Dogs

Let the Games Begin!

No long faces all you toy dog owners. Your time will come also. Today's post will involve ball games that use an Unbreakoball. However, if you have another ball at home, feel free to use it for these games which can be played indoor or out, depending on the weather. Small dogs can also be encouraged to participate with a properly sized ball.

Ready to Play!

• Box-ball: (the Fido version of basketball) Take a generously sized box and fold the flaps inside. Insert a hand full of kibble into the holes of the Unbreakoball. Place the Unbreakoball in the box as your dog watches. This introduction to his new toy is likely all you need. He'll grab the ball, gripping it by the holes, and enjoy a game of carrying or rolling it around, while retrieving the falling kibble. When your dog returns to the box to check for kibble there, be sure to praise and click (if you have a clicker, this game will be learned much faster!) if he drops the ball inside. Repeat the process a few times during each game, but don't let it drag on. Fifteen minutes is plenty.
• Soccer: You will hardly need much instruction now, but this new game will certainly change things up for Fido. Place the box, from the game above on its side, so that it creates a net-shaped structure. Without your dog noticing, place a few pieces of kibble inside the box. I recommend putting the box up against something sturdy, to keep it from tipping over backwards. After dropping a few pieces of kibble inside the ball, roll the ball toward the "net". Go to the net and begin calling your dog to you, encouraging him to bring the ball. You're sure to get a good laugh as he may offer many versions of our kids' favorite soccer game. Your only goal is to encourage him toward the box and when he gets near the box, throw a party. Praise! Treat! Help him locate the kibble inside the box too. All this will eventually result in a dog who understands that the ball is supposed to come to the box. It may not roll, but that's okay. Have fun!

I hope you will all enjoy the game ideas offered at our Weekly Wag coming on Saturday. They were designed with this giveaway in mind, specifically for the Big Dogs! Don't worry, though, the games are easy enough to adapt to your diminutive toy breeds also. You'll just have to BYOB--Bring Your Own Ball!


This Unbreakoball is as tough a ball as I've seen. The company backs it in its toughness by offering to replace it if your dog breaks it. The ball comes in two sizes, both for larger dogs. My Papillon need not apply!

When our supply of giveaways arrived, Tanner wasted no time showing us how to pick up this tougher-than-nails ball. The holes allow a dog to grab it easily enough and Tanner didn't even give it a moment's thought. I trust your big dog will handle this feature much as Tanner has--with extreme joy!
