Mutt Monday on Halloween Safety Tips

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
On the heels of #Coupaween I'm still thinking of all the great safety tips that were shared by party guests, our expert Arden Moore and the Event Barkers team members. Experience was shared that was very helpful.

Today is a great time for Bloggers to share their own Halloween Safety Tips with our readers, and join in the blog hop. Any Halloween tips you have would be welcome, and please do give me a little assist with getting the word out. Just click the Tweet below to share the news with others:
Next week's Mutt Monday will be moving on to a topic that is near and dear to my heart--Rainbow Bridge stories. Back in 2010 I created a page on All Things Dog Blog where I could remember some of my lost pets, while offering a place to memorialize others' furry family members. We have a cozy group of pets that have congregated there.

I'll be sharing not only my initial post that introduces the page, but two of my own pets' memorials. I'm inviting bloggers to share stories that communicate the essence of your pet in loss. It's great therapy to remember them for their part in making your house a home. See you soon!

Mutt Monday:
Planning Ahead for Thanksgiving

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
I'll admit it; I'm a little anal when it comes to planning ahead for the holidays. Is this too soon to be thinking about what I'll do with the pups when company arrives, or what the menu will be? If so, oh well! I'll trudge on anyway.

With the smell of turkey and sweet potatoes wafting throughout the house on Thanksgiving, the dogs' noses are always on high alert. Oliver's Medical Alert nose not withstanding, even Tanner and Jacque will be quite attuned to what's going on in the kitchen. Cooking is definitely of interest to these boys!

While I prepare a delicious repast for my family, it is also important to assure that the dogs get their yummies to be thankful for. And besides, it keeps them out of mischief when the buffet table may be within Tanner's reach. Isn't counter-surfing fun?!!!

Lots of preparation goes into making this day of family fun a success. Training for good behavior is as important as training to assure no food aggression, preparing a special treat for the dogs, and making sure that all our guests are aware of how best to manage the dogs' presence. After all, the dogs do live here. I don't banish them to the bedroom just because company arrives.

I hope you enjoy some of the helpful tips and ideas that are posted below along this theme. If you'd like to see more throughout the week, give me a hand getting the word out by clicking on this Tweet:
Next week I'll be backtracking to share..

#Coupaween Gets Pet Costumed and
Makes a Backup Plan

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

Ready for Rough Weather? We are!
Today you get a twofer. I'm going to run down the #Coupaween party plan for tonight as well as give you our backup plan, just in case the worst were to happen--downtime at Twitter. Don't worry, though, this has never happened!

Let's get that Rain Date out of the way: It's Wednesday, October 2--same time, same channel (Twitter!). If Twitter is down for more than 15 minutes, we'll move to our rain date to make sure we get to enjoy the whole event. And remember, Coupaw has goodies for Meow and Woof! Check out these cute cats that are ready to party:

Now let's move on to our party plan. I like to give you a heads up on which of our team handles will be doing what. This is helpful for you in deciding who to follow. Here's the rundown:

@ArdenKnowsPets:  Arden Moore will be sharing Halloween safety tips and answering your questions on this topic.
@EventBarkers:  As always, Event Barkers will be handing out the prizes and sharing some info about them and our sponsor, @Coupaw
@EBParties:  Learn more about @Coupaw, their site, variety, schedule, shipping, charity efforts, and product selection.
@DogTipper:  Get into the conversation about Halloween with DogTipper.
@AllThingsDog:  Help your dog be more comfortable in a costume with a few tips and easy ways to join in the Halloween fun.
@CatTipper:  Get some ideas for sharing your Meow's image in Halloween scenarios. You'll also see some photo sharing and we invite you to bring your photos to show off also.
@5MinutesforFido:  Oliver has been instructed to share some Halloween photos from earlier photo contests by Event Barkers. We'll see what happens, but please give him some kudos for trying.
@HollywoodDogs:  More photo sharing!  Don't forget to bring your Halloween pictures to share at the party.
@ParisandJohn:  Watch for tidbits about Arden Moore, pics of Irie and Tiki, and a Halloween recipe that you can whip up in a jiffy to keep Fido busy while you hand out candy at the door.

Finally, one last run through of the prizes: There will be 17 winners to receive a $25 Coupaw credit that they may spend on anything they wish at Coupaw.com. Our Grand Prize winner, to be announced at 9 PM ET, will receive one of these Coupaw credits along with a custom oil painting of a pet--valued at $175. Check out my post about artist Debbie Sampson to learn more.

That about covers it. Keep in mind that to win a prize at #Coupaween, you will have to be registered to receive daily deals at their site. And please don't forget to RSVP so we know you're joining us. We're drawing the winners from that list today, so don't waste any time getting over there. Now is the time to get that little detail taken care of so it doesn't get in your way. See you tonight; please come early and be sure to check in with @EventBarkers when you arrive.
