What Did Your Dog Eat?: A Giveaway

What the Dog Ate
Today we read about Snoopy eating a tennis ball and it reminded us that we've got the perfect book giveaway to celebrate Snoopy's getting better: What the Dog Ate. To enter this giveaway you need only tell me what interesting, dangerous or gross thing your dog has eaten. Leave your comments below and we'll all enjoy seeing what sort of mischief your pup has gotten into.

Tanner? Well, he's not one to eat things like toys these days, thankfully. He does occasionally decide that abandoned food is clearly left for him to devour. He's enjoyed an entire pan of Rice Krispie Treats, a bowl of grapes (highly toxic to dogs), and countless slices of unattended pizza. Generally these occasions occur while we have company and that makes the solution even more 'fun' when our guests get to participate. We have a direct line to poison control and are very adept at handing out the Peroxide treatment :) Okay, I've purged (Yes, pun intended!). Now it's your turn!

Now allow me to share a quote from What the Dog Ate, by Jackie Bouchard:
The vet handed Maggie Baxter a plastic specimen bag containing a pair of size-tiny lavender thong panties extracted from her dog; but they were not hers. Or rather, they were hers now since she'd just paid $734 to have Dr. Carter surgically remove them from Kona's gut.
This is how Maggie Baxter, a practical, rule-following accountant, discovers that her husband of seventeen years is cheating on her. All her meticulous life plans are crushed. When he leaves her for the other woman, Maggie and her the-world-is-my-smorgasbord chocolate Lab, Kona, are left to put their lives back together. As Maggie begins to develop a Plan B for her life, she decides to be more like Kona. No, she's not going to sniff crotches and eat everything that isn't nailed down; rather she'll try to approach life with more ball-chasing abandon. Finding herself in situations where she begins to go through her usual over-analysis of the pros and cons, she stops and instead asks herself: What would Kona do? With Kona as her guru, Maggie begins her quest for tail-wagging joy.
"What the Dog Ate" is a funny, tender story of mending a broken heart and finding love and a new life right under your nose, with woman's best friend at your side. If you enjoyed Claire Cook's "Must Love Dogs" or Lolly Winston's "Good Grief," you'll love "What the Dog Ate" and be rooting for Maggie and Kona.
You'll find What the Dog Ate on Facebook and Twitter at these links, so be sure to follow if you're interested in learning more or want to chat with the author. You can purchase e-copies at Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble and Smashwords, and the book is also available  in paperback at Amazon & CreateSpace.

You may also enter by Tweeting #WhattheDogAte. I'll add the Tweets to the comments and draw 3 numbers from Random.org for a winner. Entries may continue through Thursday, September 27 and winners will be announced the evening of Friday, September 28. Try this Tweet on for size:

Schooner ate 10 Sam's Clubs oatmeal raisin cookies they are loaded with raisins. Raisins are highly toxic to dogs.
Had to take him to the vet for a blood test to make sure his kidney were OK. Test showed everything was OK.

Skipper swallowed a elastic hair tie...couple if days later it was deposited in the yard.

My dog Auguie likes his things live and kicking. It's so gross when I have to pry his mouth open with my fingers to save lizards, frogs, and worms. One time Augie was laying in his dog bed and I saw a spider crawl out of his mouth. My two girl dogs, Xia and Li Li, doesn't dine on creepy crawlies. I guess it's a boy thing. What the Dog Ate, sounds like a good read. Good luck with the book. I hope I'm one of the lucky winners.

Kouga was eating a dead fish, and I have no idea where he got it. Artie has tried to eat tennis balls so we don't get them anymore. Artie also likes used tissues (so gross).

My dog had escaped from the yard and come back with a steak. Later, i noticed the neighbors had been grilling steaks on their BBQ.

Lots of funny stories! But the craziest for me was when my dog Sephi chewed up my bibles. She was called "My Little Devil Dog" ever since.

Coco picked up a slug one day and tried to eat it! I was never more grossed out in my life! I hate slugs and think they are so gross. I had no idea what she had picked up off the ground. All I knew was that she picked up something. I pryed her mouth open and just stuck my fingers in there to grab what she had and out came a slug!! I washed her mouth out with mouthwash and brushed her teeth because I was so grossed out! And then I washed my hands for a half hour! LOL!!!

The only thing Folly has ever done was snatch my last french fry from my hand. She was only a puppy, otherwise she just wants her Dog Pack Snacks!

While my dog does not eat (chew and swallow) anything out of the norm, she is known to steal cat toy after cat toy and tear them to shreds so the cats have nothing (yes, is a total brat to them). but do not leave a tissue or napkin around because it will end up EVERYWHERE!
