Kids' Reading is Going to the Dogs!

This Prize Does NOT Include the Papillon!
Kids are back to school and hopefully thinking about reading again. The Catch 22 about that is that they had much more time for reading during the summer. Funny how that works. All Things Dog Blog is a huge supporter of reading, as my roots are in print publishing and writing. You probably guessed it; we're giving away another package of dog stories, this time for ages 7-11. These 5 books are chapter books for young readers, and all revolve around a dog theme. They will be given away below to one reader--a package deal!

Whether you're a teacher, mom, grandparent, or babysitter, these books may be the perfect afternoon read to share with your special youngster. The best part is that you can win them here free. I'll offer numerous ways to enter in the Rafflecopter widget below. Once you've completed the mandatory entry, it's up to you to decide if you'd like to continue on with additional entries to increase your chances. Enter once, or enter daily; it's up to you.

One note about using Rafflecopter. If you don't see the widget below, click the title of the post to refresh and it will appear at the end of the post. Because Rafflecopter is a new, emerging technology, the developers are continuing to tweak and improve it. If you find any oddities or have trouble using it, I encourage you to let me know at AllThingsDogBlog@gmail.com. The Rafflecopter folks have been very responsive to my comments, shared from readers' experiences. They appreciate your input.

Now, let's get on with giving away some great dog stories:

P.S. Did you meet the new friends I made in Thailand? They're furry, big and little, and totally amazing. Check it out here.

I love the Animal Ark Series by Ben M. Baglio, I haven't read them all but puppies in the pantry and Kittens in the kitche were definately favorites from what I can remember

I like "Where the Red Fern Grows." I enjoyed the movie and maybe one day I will read the book. It is for grades 4 and up. "Fluke" is another good book, although I have only seen the movie. I am not sure if the book is child appropriate though.

One of my daughters absolute favorite books is "Because of Winn Dixie". She is 9 years old and her teachers last year introduced this book to the class and read it to them and it has been one of her all time favorites ever since. The teachers loved it too....so much so that we celebrated "Winn Dixie Day"! We had egg salad sandwiches and dump punch just like in the book and everything. It was awesome! My daughter would love to read these books. Books about dogs are her favorite kind of books...has ever been since Kindergarten.

A couple years ago some of the kids I worked with read Old Yeller... a book that I love to use in my room is called "WOOF" and it's a picture book. We use it for writing prompts and I love it!
