Eureka! Let's Eradicate Pet Fur

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

Our #EurekaPower giveaway certainly did garner a lot of interest. It's no great surprise, as this vacuum has won awards at my home too. Did you read my review of this AirSpeed EXACT Pet vacuum? Check it out at the link after you read this post to see if you are one of the lucky winners. Spring cleaning has never been so easy, and just in time for company to arrive at All Things Dog Blog HQ. Yay!

Is it too terribly geeky (geekie?) to admit that I actually enjoyed reviewing a vacuum? Sigh. What was the most fun was when we were trying to videotape a Doga video and I did my klutz thing and dumped the treats all over the floor. With the camera rolling, I just plunged right in, grabbing the vacuum quickly to turn that video clip into a commercial. What fun and so easy too! I just chopped off the front end and my commercial was ready to go. Who knew?

While reading your comments that shared some of your worst pet messes, I decided I just had to share this one:
Elle said...
Worst pet mess ever? A few years ago I was carrying the litter box down to the garage to fully dump out and then subsequently wash which I do every couple months to keep things fresh and as I made my way down the flight of stairs, I tripped and spilled the dirty litter all over my family room carpet. It was everywhere and I def could have used this vacuum for that.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who sighed aloud for Elle. Although many of the messes you described were awful, I had to pick one that stood out. Somehow, falling down the stairs with an armload of cat litter really sounded tragic. Best of luck to Elle in her future kitty litter cleanups. I've made a mental note to bag Patches' box when walking through the house with it. Check!

For those of you who still want more information or are ready to jump in the car and go grab your own AirSpeed EXACT Pet, here's some resources. You'll find the vacuum available at Walmart, both in store and online. And your questions can be posed on Facebook or Twitter. I'm sure the nice folks at Eureka will be happy to shed some light on any questions you may have.

Now that we've arrived at the day of our winners announcements, I'm sure you're all chomping at the bit. I would be too; a vacuum is not small prize, and you're going to love, love, love this puppy.  Our winners are D. Webster and C.A. Downer. Step up and claim your prizes!

I'll be in touch by email from AllThingsDogBlog@gmail.com. If you see this announcement, feel free to go ahead and send your full name, street address, and a phone number for the shipper. We definitely don't want them to have trouble finding your home. Congratulations and have fun doing your Spring cleaning.

Happy tails,

Win AirSpeed Exact Pet Eureka Vacuum

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
#EurekaPower Offers Quick Clean Up
As usual, I've got another pet mess. And this one was actually my own fault! While wrapping up a Doga session that I tried (and failed) to record, I managed to spill the treats all over the floor as I was opening them to reward the dogs for joining me. The camera was running so I took advantage of the situation and tested out the new Eureka AirSpeed EXACT Pet vacuum I received for review. What a breath of fresh air when the vacuum sucked up all the treats before the dogs could do the cleanup and find themselves with tummy aches from too many goodies. Watch our experience in the video below and be sure to read our review here.

After the above positive experience I tackled cat litter and Tanner's favorite napping spot. The Pet Power Paw attachment was quite impressive, whirring to a start like a Harley Davidson and quickly cleaning up Tanner's fur that generally sticks to fabrics quite determinedly. That was great news for this pet lover!
The Pet Power Paw in Action

I was also pleased to find an air filter inside that can be washed out and reinserted. No need to purchase filter after filter. This is not only a greener filter, it's great for trapping those tiny particles of allergans at this time of year--pollen and the like--that keep our noses running! We definitely want to remove those nasties and wash them down the drain, or better yet, bury them in the garden.

The nice folks at Eureka are offering you, my readers, a chance to win one of two Eureka AirSpeed EXACT Pet vacuums. Of course, if you'd prefer to just go out and buy one, they're available at your nearby Walmart. Check them out at this link for more details. You can enter using the Rafflecopter widget at the bottom of the post. If it's hiding, just coax it out by clicking on the post title. It will come out immediately to help you join in. Good luck to all of your furry families, and thank you for noting that this giveaway is for U.S. families only. I don't make the rules; but it's up to me to follow them. Thank you for your understanding :)

#EurekaPower Proves Itself
With AirSpeed EXACT Pet

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
Easy Assembly...I Got This Mom
Here at All Things Dog Blog HQ we've got a plethora of pets and pet messes. While testing the latest pet vacuum, the Eureka Airspeed EXACT Pet, I'm pretty sure we pulled up bunny fur, cat litter and dog fur from pets that have long since left our family. Talk about power!

But first things first, let's talk about assembly. That's always my headache when purchasing equipment such as this. I was thrilled to find the assembly instruction in visual form, since I do so much better with images. And the second happy surprise came when I timed the task--less than 15 minutes to put it together and turn that puppy on. Woohoo!

The purr of the EXACT Pet Power Paw upholstery tool was more like a Harley roar, sending the message loud and clear that this vacuum means business when fighting the messes that pets leave behind. It annihilated the Tanner fur on his favorite napping spot--our living room couch. After an initial test, cleaning up some crumbs from a dog food bag, I let Oliver inspect to be sure the vacuum picked it all up. Instead of sniffing the floor where the treats fell, he gave the vacuum a serious examination, trying hard to get inside. That was a great sign that we sucked all the crumbs up and they are now contained inside. That Oliver's powerful nose was an excellent tool for this review!

Reading up on this vacuum, I discovered that it has patented Airspeed Technology. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but anything that's patented is definitely new and better. What's not to love about that for a pet owner? My home--no doubt like many of yours--has its share of fur, dirt brought in from outdoor play, cat litter, pet food....shall I go on?

With Spring blooming early here in Flordia, flea season is in full swing. One of the things I vacuum for is fleas and their eggs. I don't want these freeloaders making families in my home, so I've got to double up on my cleaning at this time of year. If you're concerned about fleas and ticks, here's my organic pest control company's best tip: Empty the canister immediately following each use, placing in a sealed container or ziploc bag, removing to your outdoor trash can right away. Don't give any of the critters a chance to sneak out and start reproducing in your carpet.

What else did I discover? One of the problems with my earlier vacuums seems to have been the many twists and turns that interior hoses took the dirt and dust through. Clogs occur in these twisty pathways, causing a loss of suction, but the Eureka Airspeed EXACT Pet avoided much of this in its design, making for a terrific set of pipes. I could see the pathway in my carpet instantly which signaled me that we had great suction.

The tools attached to the vaccum have their own switch so you can direct the suction wherever you're using it--the tools or the floor--maximizing the efficiency of the extraction. What's more, the design is so user friendly that I have not yet had to break open the instruction booklet, and I've nearly vacuumed the whole house now. Impressed?
Let's Get a Giveaway Going!

If you can't wait for that elusive giveaway and want to run right out to buy one today, you'll find one at your local Walmart and online at Walmart.com. Be sure to ask for it by name, so you're sure to get the right one: Eureka Airspeed EXACT Pet.

No More Fur Bunnies with our New "Pet Hair Eraser"

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
© Carrie Boyko
Is this a Toy, Mom?

My pack and I have been having a little fun on the sidelines with a new toy from Bissell. Anyone with a shedding dog (or two!) knows the difficulty of vacuuming up pet fur from your car. It's one thing to suck up the stuff that collects on hard floors, but automobile carpet is the worst.

Fits Easily Into Oliver's Carseat
 for a Quick Cleanup
Over the years I've had 3 or 4 vacuums that touted themselves as powerful and able to suck up anvils with a single flip of the switch! Not so much. Now I've found my true tool of the trade, the dog-lover's vacuum du jour. Nothing works like this baby.

Baby is probably a key word. Did you notice how small this little thing is? It's cute as a button and will fit just about anywhere. Yet, it comes with a 16-foot cord to reach all the cracks and crevices, and weighs in at only 4 pounds. Amazing!

The trick to its impressive auto carpet suction seems to be the flexible, red nozzle that allows you to squeeze it into hard to get places for great suction. When using it to clean up dry messes on hard floors, pop on the hard nozzle with a narrow tip to quickly eliminate the mess.

Quickly Cleans Up
Oliver's Dog Bed
Finally, this is not one of those appliances that comes with a 30 or 90 day guarantee. You get a full 1 year on this puppy. One more thing I like about this company? They don't hide their phone number--buried in the user's manual in fine print. If you need help, their customer service number is on the back cover in full sized print.  I guess that's why their motto is "We Mean Clean"!

You can check out Bissell's other great pet fur products at their website, or follow them on Facebook or Twitter for more information. You can also get more input at Bissell's pet lover's community. Now, would you like to win a Pet Hair Eraser like mine? This adorable little handvac will be the perfect gift to yourself, or for a pet lover in your life. Are you ready? Here's your entry methods:

  • Comment on this giveaway by using the COMMENTS link at the bottom of the post. Tell me how many pets you have and what type they are.
  • Subscribe to my blog as a new reader and you'll also receive my FREE ebook download, "How to Put Your Dog on a Budget." Maybe you'll get lucky and save money on a handvac too!
  • Get into the conversation on my Facebook page by telling me what you'll use the Pet Hair Eraser for at your home.
  • Feel free to drop me a message through Twitter, and you can follow me there to keep tabs on my upcoming giveaways.
  • Leave a pic of your furry companion on my Facebook page. What's his name?
  • Prefer the privacy of email? It's okay. Drop me a photo of your furry friend to LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com. I'll be sure to show him off!
  • The cutoff for entries will be December 8. We'll choose a winner, announce it on December 9, and try to get the vacuum out in time for the holidays. Be sure to watch the blog on December 9. Good luck!

Just in case you miss out on the drawing, here's another way you can purchase your very own Pet Hair Eraser:
