Mutt Monday Goes Greener

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

We're here today to share ways to live a little more lightly on planet Earth: Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle with your dog. Bake your own healthy, organic treats, make homemade dog toys, choose recycled or Eco-friendly products, or seek out new places to find Earth friendly things for Fido. You've found the right place.

Today I'm asking bloggers to join in with their posts to offer you any help or ideas along this line. I hope you enjoy this theme and find something useful in these articles. Next week, watch for our new theme:
Top 10 Posts of 2012
I'm pretty sure I'll have a tough time sorting through all of last year's posts, but it's a great way for me to share some of my better tips and strategies for your life with your dog. Be sure to join us for this upcoming week's great offerings.

Last week I made an announcement. I'd like to help Mutt Monday become easier access for the bloggers who participate, giving more of them a chance to join in with their own posts. For this reason, Mutt Monday will now become a 24/7 event. The current week's event will open with a new theme on Monday at 12:01 AM and bloggers can link up anytime during the week.

Want to help get the word out? Here's a Tweet you can chip in on:

Mutt Monday Loves Dog Books

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

Optimized MuttMonday BadgeMore and more I'm seeing dog book reviews and dog book giveaways popping up in the pet blogging space. I'm reading a Chet and Bernie mystery right now and totally loving it. What's your current fave?

Today's blog hop is focused on book reviews and book giveaways--ones that are currently going on. Bloggers may feel free to link them up here and let's give all of our readers the opportunity to see what's up for grabs and learn more about a great read.

Now, on to next week...You know the mantra for green: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle? We'll, here at All Things Dog Blog we have tweaked this phrase to better suit pet owners. It is now Reuse, Repupose and Recycle, and this is our theme for next week. Same green idea, but more pet friendly, and that's what we are here--green and pet friendly.

We're inviting bloggers to dig deep into their archives and share their "green dog" posts  along this theme next week:
Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle
And just a quick sneak preview of the following week. I always tell myself that I'm going to go through my archives and name my top 10 posts, but it never happens. Perhaps if I get ahead of myself and simply announce it, I'll be committed. Watch for "Top 10 Posts of 2102" on March 18. Join me?

Now let's make another announcement. I'd like to help Mutt Monday become easier access for the bloggers who participate, perhaps giving more of them a chance to join in with their own posts. For this reason, Mutt Monday will now become a 24/7 event. The current week's event will open with a new theme on Monday at 12:01 AM and bloggers can link up anytime during the week.

What Did Your Dog Eat?: A Giveaway

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
© AllThingsDogBlog.com
What the Dog Ate
Today we read about Snoopy eating a tennis ball and it reminded us that we've got the perfect book giveaway to celebrate Snoopy's getting better: What the Dog Ate. To enter this giveaway you need only tell me what interesting, dangerous or gross thing your dog has eaten. Leave your comments below and we'll all enjoy seeing what sort of mischief your pup has gotten into.

Tanner? Well, he's not one to eat things like toys these days, thankfully. He does occasionally decide that abandoned food is clearly left for him to devour. He's enjoyed an entire pan of Rice Krispie Treats, a bowl of grapes (highly toxic to dogs), and countless slices of unattended pizza. Generally these occasions occur while we have company and that makes the solution even more 'fun' when our guests get to participate. We have a direct line to poison control and are very adept at handing out the Peroxide treatment :) Okay, I've purged (Yes, pun intended!). Now it's your turn!

Now allow me to share a quote from What the Dog Ate, by Jackie Bouchard:
The vet handed Maggie Baxter a plastic specimen bag containing a pair of size-tiny lavender thong panties extracted from her dog; but they were not hers. Or rather, they were hers now since she'd just paid $734 to have Dr. Carter surgically remove them from Kona's gut.
This is how Maggie Baxter, a practical, rule-following accountant, discovers that her husband of seventeen years is cheating on her. All her meticulous life plans are crushed. When he leaves her for the other woman, Maggie and her the-world-is-my-smorgasbord chocolate Lab, Kona, are left to put their lives back together. As Maggie begins to develop a Plan B for her life, she decides to be more like Kona. No, she's not going to sniff crotches and eat everything that isn't nailed down; rather she'll try to approach life with more ball-chasing abandon. Finding herself in situations where she begins to go through her usual over-analysis of the pros and cons, she stops and instead asks herself: What would Kona do? With Kona as her guru, Maggie begins her quest for tail-wagging joy.
"What the Dog Ate" is a funny, tender story of mending a broken heart and finding love and a new life right under your nose, with woman's best friend at your side. If you enjoyed Claire Cook's "Must Love Dogs" or Lolly Winston's "Good Grief," you'll love "What the Dog Ate" and be rooting for Maggie and Kona.
You'll find What the Dog Ate on Facebook and Twitter at these links, so be sure to follow if you're interested in learning more or want to chat with the author. You can purchase e-copies at Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble and Smashwords, and the book is also available  in paperback at Amazon & CreateSpace.

You may also enter by Tweeting #WhattheDogAte. I'll add the Tweets to the comments and draw 3 numbers from Random.org for a winner. Entries may continue through Thursday, September 27 and winners will be announced the evening of Friday, September 28. Try this Tweet on for size:

July 4th is almost here and many are planning a much-needed day of R-and-R; me included. There's nothing more relaxing than a day of reading beside the pool or at the beach.  All Things Dog Blog has been taking entries for book giveaways for both kids and adults. The winners are announced below.

The kids books being handed out by Tanner are adorable and fun. These books will go to 3 winners, with 2 books for each: CaseyCG, Gail K, and Sharon G. I hope your kids, grandkids or students all enjoy these fun stories.

The Your Dog's Golden Years giveaway is also ready for announcement. I've enjoyed this book immensely and there are many sticky notes in it, all ready for reference as Tanner and Oliver approach their senior years. Am I weird to think that far ahead? Hope not; I like to plan and enjoy knowing that I have some preparation for the future.

Missed the review? Catch it here. If you simply must have this book and you're not among the winners, you can purchase your own copy at SeniorDogBooks.com and Amazon.
