Halloween Hounds Get Creative

This year's Halloween photo contest was designed to be extremely simple, largely due to my incredibly tough schedule. With a son getting married, a social media conference and a home closing all at the end of October, I felt simplicity was imperative.

Up until today, all of the photos have been shared exclusively on our Facebook page. Now you can enjoy a slideshow of most of the photos. Those that were submitted in an overly small format could not be included--sorry!

Thanks to all of you who entered and for coming through with flying colors. Speaking of flying colors, our winner is Snowplow the Stars and Stripes Pilot you see above. Snowplow has won a MANKINDdog.com backpack, 3 dog training videos and a stuffing-free dog toy suitable for all sizes of dogs.

Our judge had quite a job on her hands. Her request was that I also offer 3 other entrants an honorable mention prize, since we were only offering one prize this year. Do you agree? Yeah! I though so.

Thundershirt Fights Hurricane Sandy

Wow! I sure do wish we could have wrapped this Thundershirt giveaway up in time for Hurricane Sandy's fury. Best of luck to those of you in harm's way. Usually that's Florida's job, but this time the weather systems certainly did have their own idea about things.

Flying home from Barkworld yesterday was certainly an experience. Security clearance took nearly 2 hours and all of my available patience. I survived a flight change, baggage misplacement and a nice wait in the airport, all to finally get home at a reasonable hour. Boy, was I happy to see my pups!

Today I quite ironically get to announce the winners of the 3 Thundershirt Polos, along with one additional Thundershirt Classic in gray. The Polos will get their name embroidered on the shirts, and will be shipped direct from Thundershirt. While drawing for the XS, I had to watch for a match with a tiny dog, so me and Random.org got rather cozy.

Success was finally met, and the winners are: "J.R.", J. Gregory, and M. Armstrong, who will each receive Thundershirt Polos. The winner of the XS Classic Thundershirt is C. Bourlier. Each of you will be notified by my AllThingsDogBlog@gmail.com. Your prompt response will allow for a quicker turnaround for the embroidered Polos. Congratulations to you all!

A Mutt Monday Report: SafeHowloween
for Dogs Lead by Twitter Barkers

Two bloggers with a similar goal--happy dogs and happy families. Fast friends from our first meeting in 2010, Paris Permenter of Dogtipper and I finally held our first joint event. Actually, events, as in plural.

Our Halloween Fido Photo Contest was a great success with nearly a hundred photos submitted. Find out who won and see all the amazing pictures at the link above.

Our #SafeHowlOween Twitter Party came off with quite a bang. Nervous as we were that no one would show up, a huge group descended on Twitter and swept us away for 90 minutes of fast and furious tweeting.

Much to our surprise, we started and ended on time and gave away all of our amazing prizes without a hitch. Our wonderful sponsors, Dr. Nunez's Veterinary Pharmacy and Terra Paws dog treats, were on hand to help out, answer questions and offer great discounts to participants. Terra Paws really pulled out all the stops when offering 50% off to all party attendees through the remainder of the evening. Wow!

The two of them were inundated with dog lovers needing all manner of detailed information on how to keep their dogs safe on Halloween. They did a fabulous job of handling the popularity of this topic, when questions starting flying almost before the party officially opened. Carol and Mark make a great team!

Meanwhile, as Paris and I ~~ate Candy Corn and watched idly~~, er... worked feverishly to ask basic safety questions, share Halloween photos and prize pictures, we continued our hosting duties, giving away prizes throughout the party and wrapping up with the winners of the photo contest and a grand prize winner for the Twitter Party as well.

Many party attendees left tweets of delight in thanks for a fun night. We're looking forward to doing it again and hope to see you there. Watch for our upcoming announcement of a pre-holiday party to get you all started on your festivities. For now, Twitter Barkers signing out. Happy #SafeHowlOween to you all!

Halloween Fido Photo Top Honors

There's just one way to make this post really pop. Share the photos! Congratulations to our winner in the Cutest Category, Ella as (a huggable) Frankenstein, submitted by Shelley P. The prizes for our Cutest and Most Original categories include 2 bags of Terra Paws dog treats, a Halloween dog toy and a convertible flashlight that doubles as a collar light for Fido.

Now give a round of applause to our Most Original Category winner, Aladdin & Phoenix Operate, submitted by Bonnie & Beth. Their rendition of the classic game, Operation, is truly engaging. Great job!
