Fido Fun at the Campground!

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
Leopards and Tigers! Oh My!

Summer is here and many a dog owner is singing the blues. No need to leave your dog behind due to high pet fees at hotels or worse yet, the NO word. Take your dog along on a camping adventure that includes hiking, sightseeing, and exploring the natural world. He's sure to sleep soundly after a day on the trail.

Petco has provided us with a package of goodies for our winners, including a nice little tent for Fido that's perfect for naptime at the campsite or while you picnic with the family. Well-ventilated, this tidy little tent will be comfy with the blanket that offers one side for Winter warmth and one for cool Summer napping. You can order from their website or stop by a store near you to see what's in stock. Colors may vary, so shop for some color-coordinated Fido fashions for the trip, while you're there.

When dogs go deep in the woods they're sure to think of two important things: wildlife and snacks. So two of our winners will score an animal toy for the trail and a surprise to quell hungry tummies.

This handy dandy tent doubles as a pop up crate while traveling in style at hotels, and can serve as a makeshift home when you spend the night with friends and family along the way. You just can't go wrong with this easy to set up tent that's machine washable for easy cleanup.

Now let's have some fun and give away this set of Summer fun goodies. Our Rafflecopter entry form at the bottom of this post will serve as your campground entrance. If you don't find it welcoming, please click the post title to snap it back to duty. Sometimes it naps out of sight; not a very good scout!

Happy camping,

I'll be taking three weekend trips with my daughter, Fawn, but we won't be bringing the dogs with us since I'll be busy helping Fawn with her table in Artists' Alley at the conventions. We'll only be in the hotel at night and I can't take the dogs into the convention with me. For one thing, I have five Treeing Walker Coonhounds. LOL! I do plan on taking them (likely two at a time) to various places for hiking, like the Indiana Dunes, several county/state parks, and the forest preserves just into IL from where we are. Having a tent along would assure that we have shade for my dogs when we are done hiking. I'd love to be able to use it in our back yard, too. The dogs love lounging on our deck, but they don't always get enough shade on it.

We are all about hotels and B&Bs but do enjoy 1 or 2 weekend camping trips a year. The pup tent is soooo pawsome!

We have a boat on Lake Michigan. We love to take boat rides and go to different beaches in Indiana and Michigan. We walk, play in the water, play fetch, and Schooner and Skipper love to dig in the sand. We have a picnic lunch on the beach or on the boat. When we do genealogy we take Schooner and Skipper with us because we are walking in cemeteries to find our ancestors tombstones.

We love camping, although we haven't been able to go camping yet this year, but we definitely will plan a weekend camping trip in the next couple weeks.

We love to go camping. When we go, we usually let them sleep with us, but we only had one at the time. Now we have 3 dogs! It would be nice for one or two dogs to have their own tent.

This isn't related. I won the Death Star dog toy contest. I just had to thank you again. My dog loves it! I He had to pull the little startroopers and dart vader out, and he shares a storm trooper with his sister. (it's just the right size) I also want to thank you for the 2 bandanas that you sent for the other 2 dogs. They were upset that they didn't get anything until I put their bandanas on them. I had to dig one up for the the big one since he got jealous of them. LOL!

I've never gone camping with my dog, but I haven't had a tent before so maybe that will change if we win. We have gone on one trip to CA and stayed in a hotel. San Diego is amazingly dog friendly! It is fabulous!

We like to take Ruckus to areas where we can go hiking. We are more of a motel/hotel family.

We love taking the dogs hiking, to the mountains and to the lake. We have gone camping with the dogs and they love it! We don't have any plans currently though to camp. Although the dogs love it when we put the tent up in the backyard and slept in it all night. They think this is the greatest LOL Pet friendly hotels are our thing too.

I would love to go camping with my dogs, but it probably won't happen. At any rate, I do take them to dog events and that's fun!

Today is my dogs birthday! He is 14!!! But we go camping every year, since Tigger was a puppy. He's getting deaf and blind now-but we still love to go camping, of course he does do. He's not a fan of water though, and our camp is on a lake :p

Our day trips are usually to agility trials- where a tent like this would be pretty comfy for the dogs while waiting for the next run!
