Super Dog Sunday™ Photo Contest Returns

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

Each year at the beginning of football season I get a tickly sensation. I'm pretty sure it's my father whispering in my ear that I need to get my butt in gear and get ready for Super Dog Sunday™. You see my roots are with the Green Bay Packers. My Grandfather helped to start the team. While my father grew up across the street from the original stadium he parked cars on his family's lot to pay for tickets to watch the games.

As an adult, my father was a philanthropist as well as a Packers fan. He was forever organizing fundraisers for the United Way, the Boy Scouts, and the Chamber of Commerce, to name just a few. Now it's my turn. With my Event Barkers partner, Paris Permenter of DogTipper, we are continuing this annual charity event to benefit Petfinder Foundation. It is our hope that many of you who enter your pets will also take a few minutes to enter a Petfinder adoptable pet, as a way of giving that pet a better chance at finding a home--a little extra promotion of the pet's existence. Won't you help?

Here are the details for the Super Dog Sunday™ charity photo contest:

Who: Event Barkers is hosting and sponsoring this event, with Nature's Logic as our Platinum Sponsor. You, too, may donate to Petfinder Foundation to help more pets find homes.
What:  One football-themed photo may be entered by per animal. The Event Barkers judges will categorize entries and select the winners. You are welcome to enter as many different animals and Petfinder adoptables as you wish. Watch for additional details and the Rules of the Game in the coming days. Prizes will include $500 in Nature's Logic pet food and other goodies like football toys for Fido.
Where: The photo entries will be shared simultaneously on All Things Dog Blog and DogTipper in the form of a Blog Hop.
When:  Entries may be submitted immediately; photos will open for viewing on Saturday, January 18 at 11 AM ET. Entries close at kick-off time on Sunday, February 2. Winners will be announced February 3 when the judges deliberations are complete. Voting will be available on the sites for you to share your favorites with our judges; however the judges' decisions are final.
Why: Let's help Petfinder get exposure for their adoptable pets and have a chance to win fun prizes while we're doing it!
How:  Pets and Petfinder adoptable pets of all kinds may be entered once per animal. Bloggers may upload their photos directly from their blog post to the Blog Hop, titling their entry with the pet's name. Others may email their entries as attachments to, making sure to include your name and your pet's name. Photos may be taken in football theme or decked out with a graphic football theme. Use backgrounds, props and costumes to create your winning photo or graphic additions to create your decked out photo entry.

NOTE: The contest is NOW OPEN. You can enter your photo entries here.

Adoptable entries must be submitted with the (1) name of the pet, the (2) town and state where the pet is located, and (3) the url for the pet's Petfinder profile page. A limited amount of such text may be added to the image where space is available. Keep in mind that necessary cropping may affect text viewability.

Watch for my Rules of the Game post, coming soon, that will offer more details on how entries will work. First things first; find or make some props. Here's a tip: backdrops work well. Enjoy the process and watch for more posts to come.
