Oliver and Patches Share Beds and Space

Many of you have told me that your dog homes include a Meow. Mine does as well. In sharing pet solutions, sometimes these include ways to help your kitties and dogs maintain some of their own lifestyle needs.

Cat litter boxes are definitely part of the problem for many homes where kitties and dogs share space. We'll soon be announcing a Twitter Party for Swheat Scoop, with our goal to share tips and strategies for helping Woof and Meow make a go of it in a shared home.

Our Swheat Scoop party will include much more than just kitty litter as prizes. You'll be celebrating when you hear the details. To be sure you don't miss this event, we're running a quick giveaway for our cat families to encourage you to follow our Twitter accounts for all the great news of Meow's events.

What will the winner take away?  Inside the goodie bag you see above, our Twitter drawing winner will find probiotics for Meow (They're great for Woof also), Earth's Balance First Aid Spray for active pets, Pruven oxy powered stain and odor remover (a 24 oz. spray bottle!) and a bag of Natural Balance Perfect Bites cat treats. These yummy delights contain only 1 calorie per treat and absolutely no corn, soy or wheat. They are meaty morsels for your cat :)

All you have to do to enter to win our prize package of goodies for Meow is RT one or both of the Tweets below:
We'll pull one winner from these Tweets on June 24 and announce the winner that day. Meanwhile, feel free to send each of these 2 Tweets daily:
Happy Tweeting!

Enjoy #PetBrandChat on Your Venue

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

Oliver Offers Twitter Training
The Event Barkers team is getting very excited about our first #PetBrandChat tomorrow. Our guest, @Rallyin, will be joining us to answer your questions and dish details on their plans for this unique lifestyle site where you can look up product reviews, demos, comparisons and more.

Tomorrow's chat begins at 1 PM ET, so don't forget your brown bag lunch, or just stop by Starbucks and grab a latte. Get me one too!

Following are a few tips on using other venues to enjoy the chat. Feel free to ask any questions in the comment section and I'll do my best to get them answered.

If you're using Hootsuite.com, the party is as easy as 2 steps:
  • Click "Add a Stream" in the upper left corner of your screen.
  • In the popup box click the "Search" tab and enter the event hashtag, #PetBrandChat, in the box.
  • Hootsuite will create a stream for your hashtag and place it at the far right. You can move it anywhere you prefer simply by grabbing it with your cursor at the top section and dragging the column left for right.
  • Each stream in Hootsuite has its own refresh button, so you can refresh your party stream as slowly or quickly as you need.
Prefer TweetChat.com? Here's the method:
  • Visit Tweetchat.com and enter your hashtag in the box at the top center. Hit enter and the chat stream will appear almost immediately. If you merely wish to watch, you can view from here without participating.
  • I recommend that you sign into Twitter on the page that opens, so that you'll be able to join in the conversation. It's just more fun that way :)
  • Adjust your preferred Refresh Speed by clicking on the appropriate button and using the slider for setting. You can change this throughout the event as needed.
  • "User Controls" allows you to feature specific users or block those you prefer not to see. You can even opt out of RTs if you prefer not to see them.
  • Prefer larger or smaller font? Click the "Toggle Font" button to make your choice.
  • "Pause" is pretty obvious and very convenient if you're determined to read the entire event's Tweets.
  • Now that you know how to use TweetChat, here's a link to put you there in a heartbeat, ready to view #PetBrandChat. Now you've got a private room at the event to enjoy the conversation in.
Feeling adventurous? Try TweetGrid.com after you have mastered Hootsuite. It gets a bit more detailed and is not quite as intuitive, but does have some useful features if you're really into the details of the event.

Insert this link into a url line. Login by allowing the app to use Twitter. This is a basic #PetBrandChat event setup for our event with @Rallyin. You need to enter your own handle in the right-hand column and click search to complete the layout. The format gives you a complete event Tweet feed in the left column, and a host/moderator feed in the center column.

Dogtipper.com, WoofWoofMama.com, 5MinutesforFido.com and our site all look forward to seeing your tomorrow.  Don't forget to stop by Rallyin.com to check it out first, and be sure to come armed with your questions. Our friends @Rallyin will be eager to answer them.

Before I go, I have to alert you to Oliver's more basic Twitter Training over at 5 Minutes for Fido. Bring your sense of humor, or at least a tomato.

Let us know what you think about all these Twitter venues after the chat. Just leave a comment below. Which method do you prefer? Why?

Happy chatting,

Pet Lifestyle on Twitter

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

Since Event Barkers debuted with #SafeHowlOween in October of 2011, I've continued to be amazed by the activity and engagement of Twitter users and brands. Producing social media events such as Twitter Parties has been very rewarding. Now we'd like to move to a new and different area of the Twitterverse.

Did you see the amazing questions asked of @LifeandDog at our #SuperDogPics Twitter Party? It was nothing short of amazing how an expert can attract a crowd and have thought-provoking, compelling questions asked of them. We'd like to recreate this experience each week for our followers, allowing them to get the information they seek for their pets and their lives with them.

That said, I have a new trick up my sleeve that will be starting up this Spring. Brands who wish to connect with Twitter users to answer questions, jump into meaningful conversation regarding their products and pets, and build lifelong relationships with loyal customers, need only jump on board.

Twitter users should watch for more announcements regarding dates, times and topics. We'll be bringing you the opportunity to chat about specific pet topics that interest YOU. Care to spill now? The comment link is open. We'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas.

Event Barkers is interested in brand feedback as well as participation and sponsorship for these customer and potential-customer chats. Want to learn more about this new concept? Please get in touch with Event Barkers at EventBarkers@gmail.com. We'd love to help you bark out your message.

Twitter Party Tips for #SuperDogPics

by Carrie Boyko, CEB
© AllThingsDogBlog.com
How Do I Win Treats?

No; you're not alone. Paris and I get lots of questions about how Twitter Parties work, who to follow, how to keep up and much more. Today's post is full of fun facts for making sure your #SuperDogPics experience is, well, Super!

I'll start first with general party tips that have nothing to do with which Twitter interface you choose to use:
  • First and foremost, in order to win prizes, you'll need to 1) RSVP, 2) follow @EventBarkers on Twitter, and 3) participate in the chat so we know you're here. You'll also need to follow @Dogtipper and @AllThingsDog to assure we see you :)
  • And equally as important, ALWAYS use the #SuperDogPics hashtag when Tweeting, so you'll know that your Tweet is seen by the rest of the party.
  • If you're joining us to get EXPERT photo tips, follow @Dogtipper and @LifeandDog.
  • Amateur, point-and-click photo tips will be dispensed by @AllThingsDog.
  • Prize descriptions and winners will come via @EventBarkers and general information on Event Barkers from @EBParties. This is our newest handle, and we could use your help in following it so we'll be able to use it for more important jobs soon, like giving out prizes :).
  • For specific information on our #SuperDogPics sponsors, watch our team handles: @Learnin2BGreen, @Cattipper, @HollywoodDogs, and @MyPetAllergies
  • And don't miss Oliver's anipal antics @5MinutesforFido.
  • To help assure that everyone sees important Tweets, RT them.
  • Be sure to say hello to your hosts @EventBarkers, @Dogtipper and @AllThingsDog.
  • Don't forget to thank our sponsors and guest experts for the great entertainment, information and prizes: @ILoveMyK10, @ThingsYourDog, @TobyandMax, @CartoonYourPets, @LifeandDog, and Gypsy Eyes Clothing.

Twitter #Discover Page for #SuperDogPics

If you're using Twitter's own interface, these tips are for you. Check below for Hootsuite and Tweetchat tips:
  • To find the party Tweets and ignore your other friends while you're partying with us, just click on the "#Discover"  menu bar item and enter our hashtag in the search box as shown above (see the top of the illustration).
  • Twitter parties move very quickly, so know who you want to follow and scan for their handle as you refresh frequently. The refresh button is your best friend!
  • Need more help on keeping up with the flow of Tweets? Read this post that has more detail and helpful tips.
  • More help with DMs and RTS is here.
If you're using Hootsuite.com, the party is as easy as 2 steps:
  • Click "Add a Stream" in the upper left corner of your screen.
  • In the popup box click the "Search" tab and enter the party hashtag, #SuperDogPics, in the box.
  • Hootsuite will create a Stream for your hashtag and place it at the far right. You can move it anywhere you like, simply by grabbing it with your cursor at the top section and dragging wherever you wish.
  • Each Stream in Hootsuite has its own refresh button, so you can refresh your party stream as slowly or quickly as you need.
Prefer TweetChat.com? Here's the method:

  • Sign in with Twitter.com first
  • Now visit Tweetchat.com and enter your hashtag in the box at the top center
  • Adjust your preferred Refresh Speed by clicking on the appropriate button and using the slider for setting. You can change this throughout the party as needed.
  • "User Controls" allows you to feature specific users or block those you prefer not to see. You can even opt out of RTs!
  • Prefer larger or smaller font? Click the "Toggle Font" button to make your choice.
  • "Pause" is pretty obvious and very convenient if you're determined to read the entire party's Tweets. If so, I'd suggest you rest your eyes beforehand; we're looking at major numbers of Tweets here!
Feeling adventurous? Try TweetGrid.com after you have mastered Hootsuite. It gets a bit more detailed and is not quite as intuitive, but does have some useful features if you're really into the details of the event.

Insert this link into a url line. Login by allowing the app to use Twitter. This is a basic #SuperDogPics party setup. You need to enter your own handle in the right-hand column and click search to complete the layout.
