This time of year I get very wary of the lakefront we live on. Tanner does not have access to it in our back yard because of the gator dangers during Spring and Summer. His lake swims have to wait till Fall when things calm down. I hope you'll read and learn from my post about gator safety. Patches has certainly been a good sport with all the kitty litter goings on in the All Things Dog Blog house. Right now she's purring on my lap as I post and Oliver has given way to her taking over this spot despite a storm brewing outside. He's such a brave boy!
Between you and me I think Oliver has had his fill of kitty litter photo shoots. He seems to be asking "Where are the dog treats?" BOL! (For those of you who find this acronym confusing, it means "Barking Out Loud" or "Bark Out Loud".) I got an email from one of my astute readers noting that I should offer this explanation to readers who are not familiar with the lingo here. Good call, Sherri!

Wow, did I have a blonde senior blogger moment last week or what? And it appears to continue, since I couldn't even decide what to call it today. No way am I ready to admit that I'm a senior! I just looked at last week's post and realized that I titled it "Fido's Freebie Friday Celebrates July 4th"--a week early. That's what happens when I try to post while on a vacation, I suppose. I came back with my brain all muddled and no longer focused!
That said, I'm struggling to title today's post and not doing very well. I hope you're taking some time off to celebrate our Nation's birthday with your furry friend. I'll certainly be spending mine poolside with Tanner and watching him splash our guests and Oliver while he's at it. Thanks for your patience while I return to my daily grind with reasonable brain power. Tanner and Oliver seem almost as fatigued from their downtime as I do. What gives?

Next week is the biggest vacation week of the entire year for many Americans--Independence Day. When I think of independence for my dogs, I realize that they have none. Short of becoming homeless scavengers, they are totally dependent on me. I think we're all okay with that status quo.
Sometimes, though, I see a bit of independence of a different sort. Those times when little Oliver plays with a toy, oblivious to the goings on around him. I know he's enjoying it so completely that he's hardly aware of his surroundings. This is delightful to witness since Oliver is not as interested in toys as Tanner is.

You may have heard that I'm on vacation, but that's not even an option these days. I'm always on the job! Tanner and Oliver have a different story. While I'm off getting a change of scenery, they're not reviewing products, posing for photos shoots or even taking me on walks. Fortunately they've got their girl for that task!
Although I'm temporarily out of the office, the blog still goes on. Fido's Freebie Friday is sort of like a Broadway show, and as they say, "The show must go on!" Enjoy this week's selection and watch for our announcement of details on our @Swheat Scoop Twitter Party, coming early next week.
